Data & AI Engineer

At Techonomy, we work on a wide variety of data and AI projects for our clients. That is why we are looking for someone with a strong technical foundation who wants to help build our most complex projects.

In this role, you will contribute to the approach for innovative AI initiatives and build the necessary technical foundations: from data warehouses and cloud infrastructure to connections, integrations, and production-ready AI systems. In doing so, you ensure that data and AI are optimally utilized to create value for our clients.

We work intensively with each other and with our clients. You will have the space to develop yourself, both in terms of technical depth and in the breadth of data, AI, and business impact.

You will work alongside a team of data science and engineering experts within an organization that has a data-driven mindset and deep knowledge of digital marketing. As a result, we deliver not just technology, but also insights and strategy that make a real difference.

About the role

As a Data & AI Engineer, you will work on a wide range of technical challenges. You will build solutions that are not only technically robust but also reliable, scalable, and practical for real-world use.

Specifically, this means:

• You build and maintain data and AI solutions, from ELT processes and data warehouses to production-ready AI systems.
• You will learn our advanced methodology and work with the team to further develop it.
• You will contribute to our internal toolkit, including LangChain-based AI modules, dbt macros for complex SQL, a Python framework for integrations, Terraform modules for cloud infrastructure, and tooling for data quality and monitoring.
• You embrace agentic engineering: AI tools and skills are an integral part of how we build faster, smarter, and more effectively.
• You communicate directly with clients and colleagues. You listen, ask sharp questions, and translate high-level requirements into feasible, valuable solutions.
• You contribute to technical architecture, integrations, and the further development of our data and AI infrastructure.

You don't need to master everything yet. We primarily value a strong technical foundation, curiosity, and a drive to explore and apply new technologies.

Who are you?

We are looking for someone with a solid technical background, a genuine interest in data and AI, and the ambition to continuously develop. You are an engaging partner for both your team and our clients, and you enjoy distilling complex issues into practical solutions.

What you bring to the table

• You have a solid foundation in Python and development tools, including Git.
• You have a background in data engineering, machine learning, or AI.
• You have completed a relevant university degree, for example in data science, computer science, or a similar field.
• You speak Dutch.

In addition, you have an interest in

• Building custom AI systems, or a strong background in data science with the ambition to further develop your skills in agentic AI systems.
• Databases, data warehouses, and SQL.
• ETL and/or ELT processes.
• Translating technical solutions into impact on business processes, business goals, and the end-user experience.

Bonus points for

• You can build complete systems, from data pipelines and AI infrastructure to web development.
• You have knowledge of cloud platforms such as GCP, Azure, or AWS.
• You have an interest in software design patterns.
• You have experience with BI tools.
• You have knowledge of CI/CD within a data engineering context.
• You follow technical developments closely and can assess which innovations are relevant for us and our clients.
• You enjoy working directly with clients and developing yourself across a broad range of areas.
